If you are new to counselling you may be confused by the different theoretical approaches and find it difficult to decide what would be right for you. Current research shows that more important than the theory is the therapeutic relationship (the relationship between you and me) and this is the cornerstone of my work.

My theoretical approach is Integrative, drawing on the Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) approaches within a relational working model which emphasises the Humanistic philosophy and embraces Person Centred core processes.

In addition to my professional training, I have life and professional experience in a variety of fields which inform my work and the person I am. This includes many years of devising and running training courses in listening skills. Perhaps most relevant is my on-going experience of more than 20 years as a Samaritan volunteer.

My professional qualifications:

  • I am an accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist.
  • I hold an Advanced Diploma in Professional Integrative Counselling.
  • I am accredited by BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their Code of Ethics and Good Practice.
  • I am registered with UKRCP (United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists).
  • I attend regular professional supervision and am committed to Continuing Professional Development.
